First off, thank you for making it so far as to read my first sentence. I know that nowadays, most people have the attention span of a Twitter feed, so I commend myself for being able to lure you in so easily.

I know that I touch a little bit upon my intentions in my About section, but I feel like a more proper introduction is due. So without any further interruptions, here it is:

My name is Valeria Kolomiets, born in Moscow, raised in Israel, and finally perfected in Canada. It’s been 15 years since I first moved to this great country, and each time I leave it for travel, I’m reminded more and more of how much of a home it’s become to me.

I often tell people that I’m a terrible story-teller since I tend to get so caught up in describing the meaning and exact circumstance behind every word, that by the time I’m done, I already killed the punchline. And the lead-up. Basically the entire story is ruined. So this is why I decided to start this blog…because despite my rambling and over-excessive nature, I always found refuge in writing. It’s been my way of apologizing, explaining, and maintaining many of my relationships throughout the years.

True to my Russian upbringing, I’m actually a fairly private person, and quite cynical about our “my life is better than yours” Instagram culture. I’m prone to believing most people are fake until they prove me wrong, but I do admit to my own guilty basic bitch pleasures like rosé, brunch, and summer hats. My whole intention in life is to become versed in as many sub-cultures and genres as I could, so I can kill it at any cocktail party…or more realistically, win as many trivia nights as possible.

So can you dig it? I mean, if you’re made it through this mess of a post, then everything should be smooth sailing from here. I’ll try to be as active as I can, and give each category the same amount of love, and while this blog may be mostly for me (get it??) , I know I wouldn’t be able to make it far without you. So comment, share and be as active as you can- this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

And how does this make you feel?
